Argueably the most quoted for his statement that "You must become the change you wish to see in the world", Mahatma Gandhi was a man of principle who sought to free his country from British rule through the principles of non-violence. His wisdom he carried through his life with the personal understanding that our words are only as good as the practice we make of them. His philosophies caused him great struggle with his own personal demons, fears and insecurities yet he was ever seeking Satya or "truth", believing that Satya is the mirror in which God is seen. He understood that in order to find truth, there is much that one must un-learn, that the act of commitment denies you the option to choose a different course - "There are many causes that I am prepared to die for but no causes that I am prepared to kill for." Gandhi was born on October 2, 1869 and was assassinated on his way to evening prayer on January 30, 1948. The George Washington Statue is another sculpture Rocco did for fun, which is now being made available for sale as a kit, meaning you put it together and paint him up the way you want to. Often when Rocco takes on commissions, he gets deeply involved with the history and background of the subject matter. In working with many history museums and licensors he has poured over a lot of information regarding the founding of the United States and the men who made freedom possible. This is just one tribute. He is also working on a series of busts and statues with an historical bent including Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and more.
